Saving 6 is the third book in the Boys of Tommen series, and it dives deep into previous character Shannon Lynch’s brother, Joey Lynch, and his partner Aoife Molloy’s story.
After reading Keeping 13, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Saving 6—and it did not let me down.
In the past two books, we had always seen Joey as the strong, loving, protective older brother, always looking out for his siblings. But this book shows the side of him we didn’t fully know—his broken backstory.
Joey was once considered the hero of both stories, yet he also had a dark side due to his long-lasting drug addiction. In this book, we realize that his first addiction wasn’t drugs—it was wanting to feel cared for by his family. He carries the weight of his household, taking care of everyone except himself. He lives in a world full of loathe and frustration, often reminding his younger sister Shannon that everyone in this world will let you down.
It’s ironic, because the only person who refuses to give up on him is Aoife—his boss’s bold and big-hearted daughter. Even though their worlds seem completely different, they somehow collide. Their friendship is messy, complicated, and takes years to fully grow, but Aoife keeps showing up—even when Joey tries to push her away.
This book was a rollercoaster of serious emotions, as it covers real-world topics that many readers can relate to and learn from.
I hope you all enjoyed reading this book as much as I did.
Happy Reading!
