The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo: A Book Review

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo: A Book Review

Today, I will be reviewing The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Hollywood’s 1900s hot-shot, Evelyn Hugo, is so much more than the glamorous and elegant lady seen on TV. After over thirty years of hard work in the acting industry, she decides to reveal the dark side of her life. Evelyn hires Monique Grant, a struggling writer, to tell her story from a poor, first-generation Cuban American teenager living in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan, with her abusive father, to a Hollywood icon living the American Dream, shaped by her seven husbands who contributed to her success.

Monique feels apprehensive about why Evelyn chose her to write this story, but she accepts the opportunity hoping to gain benefits for her career.. Evelyn reveals her insecurities about her life decisions and hopes that publishing this book will expose how terrible she believes she has been.

As the story unfolds, readers discover that Evelyn’s journey is more than just a biography; it serves as a testament to the importance of not judging a book by its cover. This story explores the complexities of womanhood and moving on from difficult situations. Evelyn’s story highlights that despite appearing seductive and glamorous, Evelyn’s life was filled with struggles as she sought to find herself.

Filled with plot twists and turns, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid is a captivating read for young adults and adults interested in romance and fiction. Happy reading!
